Sunday Setlist- 01-25-09
Again it was a great Sunday. Our message this week was “Fishing and Following” brought by Pastor Danny Wayman. The music was awesome too, except I forgot where my capo went on “Jesus Messiah.” Luckily I was able to correct the problem.
Here are the songs.
Fork In the Road- I brought this to the band from my first CD. They do a great job with it.
Revive Us Again- A great redo if this old hymn.
Jesus Messiah- Except for me almost starting in the wrong key because of the capo, it went well
Flower in the Field- Kerri’s Song from her first CD.
Here I Am Lord- We did a quick redo of this hymn. Fit great with our topic of following Jesus
We also used this video about if the church marketed like starbucks.
And that’s just what we did this Sunday. Be sure and check out what others did on Fred McKinnon‘s Sunday Setlist Worship Carnival #27

Cool set. Looks like lots of creativity. When you say starting in the wrong key, you say that like it’s a bad thing.
Not necessarily a bad thing if I was playing by myself.. but I knew the rest of the band would be coming in a step higher than I was at the moment.
I really like “Jesus Messiah”.
Glad you caught the capo mixup before the others got started
.
Love the Starbucks video.
Wow — two (apparently) original tunes! Leads me to ask a couple of things…
Does your church fellowship already know these songs, and if not, do you invite them to participate toward the end, or use them more as reflection (you present it, they “reflect”)?
Also interested in what you did with “Revive Us Again.” I’ve thought about that one a couple of times, but I can’t find a creative way to get it into a more modern style without totally butchering its melody and feel.
Dean-
Both Kerri Crocker and I write original songs that our group has learned. I have a few worship songs that we have taught everyone and they have caught on to pretty well. This week we used the “Fork In The Road” song as our opening song before our announcements and opening worship set. It really just cues people to come on in and sit down. Kerri’s “Flower in the Field” we put in the offering slot.
Revive us Again was based on a version by Big Daddy Weave http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?i=285135953&id=285135926&s=143441
Funny video!! Did it go over well? We are actually showing a video next week! Wahoo! I think it might be the first one since you left!
Looks like your doing a geat job Russell!
Shannan- The video was worked into the sermon and went pretty well. We don’t use video every week but try to fairly often. Sometimes you can say something with a video you can’t in person.
That is a GREAT video! Where did you find out about it?
Paul,
I follow a lot of great blogs and it came up on one of them. I can’t remember where it was first suggested but it is great.
