Most weeks at our church we have simultaneous contemporary and traditional worship services at the 10:30 to 11:30 hour. Periodically for special occasions we combine services into one location. This week we combined in the contemporary service. It was nice to see some people I don’t normally get to see on a weekly basis.

Choosing Songlists: Christmas Vs Advent?
It seems every year that I come across the same delimma when choosing songs for this season. It stems from the fact that what the stores and media call the Christmas season is, for our church, Advent, or the 4 Sundays immediately before Christmas Eve. Most of the traditional carols that people expect to hear, [...]
Sunday Setlist- 12/07/08
For some reason this week I felt like I just needed to get through. Maybe it was because I woke up feeling dead tired, maybe it was because we were a little less familiar with our song list than we usually are, or maybe because we were missing a drummer and lead vocalist. Unfortunately I [...]

Worship went well at Williams this week. We did miss having our regular keyboard player with us which meant I rotated over to keys and we didn’t have much acoustic guitar. It sounded pretty good though. Apparently I did not give our screens operator the specific scripture, we have four per week because we use [...]

Interactive Communion Service
For the past year we have really tried to elevate and emphasize communion in our service. Every month we have tried something interactive or at least different. We have used the paper that dissolves in water and had the congregation write on the paper what they needed to let go of. The dropped the paper [...]

This Sunday clicked for some reason. It was one of those weeks when everything came together inspite of my planning. I really can’t put my finger on why it worked so well, I am just glad it did.
We started off with slightly altered version of Crossfire. Our drummer loves singing these old songs so we [...]

This week was a great Sunday. First of all we had a special guest Shelly Wilson, friend of worship leader Kerri Crocker, who sang with us this week. The band learned her song “Thank You For Loving Me” off her new upcoming CD. We have been trying to do more original songs lately, some written [...]
Worship Service Brainstorm #1 Intro
One of the coolest things I have done is to sit down with a team and brainstorm about ideas for a worship service. To take a topic or scripture, or point and find creative ideas that help others experience God in a new way. I have done this before in a small team within my [...]
