I Can’t Believe I Did That!

If you know me at all, you know that I am a pretty picky eater. Not as bad as I used to be but still there are things I will not partake of. This includes things like onions, guacamole, broccoli, etc..

I recently attended a UM ARMY camp which took me down near my home town. Taking advantage of the opportunity I met up with my mom and sister, at the Kemah Boardwalk, at the end of camp. After a bucket of crab legs we walked around looking at the shops and came across the candy store.

The store had many items like chocolates, jelly beans, candy bars, and my favorite… sour belts. However there was one item that my sister brought to me. “Ill try one if you will”, she said. Check out the video to see…

Yeah I did it, and it really wasn’t that bad. I’m not going to make a meal out of them but it did help me to understand one thing. There are many things I am afraid of because either they are unknown to me, or I have been influenced by others opinions.

So maybe I should give broccoli another try. And maybe there is a person, or experience, or situation, or conversation I may need to give another chance to also.

True story. Today my wife was getting her hair cut for Locks of Love. I was there with here in the salon when I heard what sounded like a donkey on the radio. As I listened more I found out that I was correct. So I turned to Youtube to see if there were any videos of this weird christmas song online.. I found a few… here’s one of them!

Yep..you’ll never get those 2 and a half minutes of your life back. Hey, it was this or “I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas”

For some of us the Christmas shopping is winding down, and some haven’t even started. No matter were you are I definately want you to take a look at this next video. It asks the question what would happen if we all spent a little less on ourselves this Christmas.

I figured out one time that if Americans spent 10% less on Christmas we could solve the clean water problem, hunger, and wipe out malaria. And thats just in one year. So I encourage you to find somewhere you can give. For some ideas check out the United Methodist Committee on Relief, Nothing But Nets, and the Blood Water Mission Project. Locally give to your church food bank, community projects, or your neighbor next door.

This is one of my favorite childhood christmas songs. We’d put the album on the record player, as we put up Christmas decorations, made cookies, or opened presents. Actually it’s the only Christmas album I can remember us having.
There are many versions done at different times, I think this video is of the earliest. Enjoy!
